About USTaxCode.org

Plain English · Real Sources · No Agenda

USTaxCode.org is an independent educational resource dedicated to making the United States Internal Revenue Code accessible and understandable to everyday Americans. The US Tax Code contains over four million words and grows more complex every year. We believe understanding how you are taxed is a fundamental right, not a privilege reserved for accountants and attorneys.

We launched this site because tax education in America is broken. Most people have no idea how marginal tax brackets actually work, what deductions they qualify for, or how tax credits can dramatically reduce what they owe. We are here to fix that — one plain-English article at a time.

Our Mission

To translate thousands of pages of federal tax law into clear, actionable information any adult can read and use, regardless of their financial background or training.

Plain Language First

Every concept on this site is written in plain English. No jargon without definition. No assumption of prior tax knowledge.

Source Everything

Every fact is linked to a primary source — actual IRC sections on Cornell Law, official IRS publications, or government data.

Stay Current

Tax law changes every year. We update our content to reflect the current tax year brackets, limits, and rules.

Always Free

Tax education should be free. No paywalls, no subscriptions, no required sign-ups. Everything here is available to everyone.

What We Cover

Editorial Standards

Every article on USTaxCode.org is reviewed against primary sources before publication. We cite the specific IRC sections, IRS publications, and government data we rely on, and we link directly to those sources so readers can verify our work. When tax law changes — for example when Congress passes new legislation or the IRS issues updated brackets and limits — we update the relevant articles and note the revision.

We do not accept payment in exchange for editorial coverage of any tax preparation service, software product, financial institution, or advisor. Display advertising on this site is delivered through Google AdSense and is independent of our editorial content.

What We Are Not

USTaxCode.org is not a tax preparation service. We do not file returns, prepare returns, or provide personalized tax advice. We are not affiliated with the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of the Treasury, or any government agency. Nothing on this site constitutes tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. For advice specific to your situation, please consult a licensed CPA, Enrolled Agent, or tax attorney.
